Bunnyland Director Bios Brett Hanover (Director) A product of the burgeoning Memphis independent film scene, Brett Hanover debuted in 2005 with the short “Above God,” winner of Best Documentary at both the Indie Memphis and Atlanta Underground film festivals. Produced in association with the Media Co-op, “Above God” followed the life of Gene Ray, an eccentric philosopher dealing with the unexpected effects of online fame. Another short film, the experimental “SCHIAVO,” was featured both at Indie Memphis and the 2006 Spun from the Web exhibition in Chicago. Hanover’s work typically focuses on individuals – subjects of uncommon and controversial character, presented not as curiosities but as lives deserving serious reflection. This is especially evident in the critically acclaimed performance “S4TYR PL4Y” (2006), which put issues of anthropomorphic identity on stage for the first time. Shortly after wrapping “S4TYR,” Hanover began work on his current project, the feature documentary “Bunnyland.” During the nearly two year production, he has cultivated a straightforward aesthetic to help viewers empathize with his typically bizarre subjects. Brett Hanover currently lives in Chicago, where he studies film and video at the School of the Art Institute. Morgan Jon Fox (Assistant Director) Co-Founder of Sawed-Off Collaboratory Productions and the MeDiA Co-op, Morgan is a writer/director/producer of stage plays and feature length films. His films such as “Blue Citrus Hearts” and “Away (A)wake” have won awards across the country, screening at over 30 film festivals, in the US and abroad. Morgan has recently finished his 4th feature film, and is writing his fifth. Katherine Dohan (Assistant Director) The brilliant lead singer of Memphis band Scandaliz Vandalistz, Katherine Dohan got her start in film as co-founder of Do You Know Where Your Children Are? Productions. Her projects have included everything from award-winning music videos to quirky adaptations of Shakespeare. She is currently collaborating with moviemaking cohort Alanna Stewart on their first feature film.
